Lucy Owen exhibits at the Discerning Eye
The ING Discerning Eye Exhibition is a show of small works independently selected by six prominent figures from different areas of the art world: two artists, two collectors and two critics. Work is selected from open submission and from artists invited by the individual selectors. Each selector's section is hung separately giving the impression of six small exhibitions within the whole. The exhibition provides an unusual opportunity for works by lesser-known artists to be hung alongside contributions from internationally recognised names.

Lucy Owen studied at Goldsmiths and Canterbury Art College before acquiring an MA at the Royal College of Art. She creates her work through an exploratory process, starting by making spontaneous marks from which a picture will form - crystallising from ideas suggested by the marks made. Lucy usually works on several paintings at the same time building up layers to create the final image. She has no preconceptions about the finished painting although there will be a common thread between them  - an atmosphere of place and time.
